JAPANESE TOURJuly 2008

Hi Rageheads
again I will come to you, telling you, what we're doing with RAGE at the moment. During the last weeks, we were travelling extremely much, playing some great shows, first of all a Japanese tour. End of June we started with the super long flight to Tokyo. That's always my personal horror, 12 hours sitting bodkin in a much to small seat without interruption, hey, that's no fun. Anyhow, arriving in Tokyo, this fascinating city let forget those privations at once. The guys of our Japanese record company (Marquee) invites us for dinner, relating culinary experiences, Japan is my number 1 since ever, alone the beer is such awesome, even domestic brewery products didn't come along (in my opinion).

02.07.08 - 2. DAY OF TOUR - OSAKA - J
Osaka.... Next day we start for Osaka, where we are going to play our first show, though it's on the following day, we're using the Off Day for sightseeing, shopping expedition (nowhere such extreme shopping meils' can be found like here!) and for pub hopping (Rockrock rulez). Even it's quite hot and humid, we're getting along well with the adaptation, may be it's due to the good beer!

03.07.08 - 3. DAY OF TOUR - OSAKA - J
Osaka/Club Quattro....In the afternoon we drive to the Quattro, where we are going to play at night. The sound check is manifesting the unbelievable quality of our Japanese sound and light technicians, we're more than impressed, that our stage sound meeting perfect CD quality, the guys knows their equipment well. Except our backliner Sascha, nobody of our domestic crew is present, it's holiday season. At 7 pm the show starts in the packed club. The fans are celebrating our songs from the first up to the last tone, and we are in very good spirits of playing, that's real fun. We're performing almost the same set as we did on the European tour, though there are some specific changes, as sundry old titles possess cult status and may not be absent in a live set, so we extra rehearsed at the sound check. After the show we quickly got some dainty things in solid and liquid form before going to bed.

04.07.08 - 4. DAY OF TOUR - NAGOYA - J
Nagoya/Bottom Line.... In the morning we're travelling to Nagoya by high-speed train (Shinkansen), where we perform in Bottom Line, a club, which we never missed on a tour, for me already the 10th time I'm playing here. During the sound check we rehearse some other songs, as we don't like to play the same set every evening. The gig again becomes fantastic, though the air condition is slightly over challenged, and oxygen is scarce. So we are totally tuckered out after the show, especially Victor, who has powered himself out up to the coma limit. I'm looking like coming out of a lake, even my shoes are wet all over, but I know such things, hehe... At the dinner, everybody is less revel today, that was extremely energy-sapping.

05.07.08 - 5. DAY OF TOUR - TOKYO - J
Tokyo.... Unfortunately, Victor has no time to regenerate today, as he will do a DVD production with the Young Guitar magazine. It will become a guitar workshop DVD, where Victor is shining! Even though of his beating up condition, he's immediately conjuring every solo, every riff, every smallest part of our songs to the fingerboard, even things we didn't played for years, respect, the producer and interviewer are really impressed. Actually I don't know if the DVD will be released in Europe also.

I'm using the Off Day for visiting the Tokyo Natural History museum, which is coming up with an immense, and for me real impressing paleontological collection, after that, I went to the Aqua zoo, a gigantic sea aquarium, before fading out the day with sushi and amber nectar.

06.07.08 - 6. DAY OF TOUR - TOKYO - J
Tokyo/Shibuya O-East.... Well relaxed (at least concerning my part, sorry Vic!) we're going to our Tokyo show into the sold out Shibuya O-East on the 6th day of tour. This will become a super gig, such a one, we will remember for a very long time. Absolutely, the fans singing everything from start to finish, no guitar solo will be leaved out, and we really play in peak form everything. Specially mentionable is the Japanese version of "Full Moon" (Michi shi Tsuki), where I admittedly have to read the lyrics from a sheet, but which is enthusiastically picked up. As well as Victors extraorbitantic guitar solo, reviving memories to Frank Zappa, and causing open eyes and mouths at the guitar enthusiastic Japanese. The fare-well dinner is again becoming one of our revelry, which you can nowhere do as beautiful as you can do here in Japan...

07.07.08 - 11.07.08 - IN PLANE AND ON STAGE
Tolmin/Metal Camp.... Zaragoza/Monsters of Rock.... Certainly, the return flight next day is becoming real strengths-sapping, as we're going to play on Metal Camp festival in Slowenia the same day. That means a 20 hour journey with 2 flights and additional shuttle trip of 4 hours. Just half an hour befors our show start we reach the festival area in Tomlin, real sporting! Half-dead, we're sprinting on stage, caught off guard by an inexpressibly bad stage sound, which is making it almost impossible to play our set. Only the super reactions of the fans, which fortunately came out of their tents just in time (the weather god had finally an understanding) let the show go smoothly. Then, anybody messed up our hotel booking, so we have to put up with a community room after 2 days without sleep. As several of us are sleeping pretty noisily, you can't consider any nighttime peace. The jetlag is giving the rest! As we're back home, we were hardly recognized, we're looking like Zombies! Therefore, we shortly afterwards go for Spain to the Monsters of Rock festival, but I just contemplated to report about Japan... Anyhow, you see, life as Metal musician is not always a bed of roses, sometimes we're really have to face hard situations to play for you. But we like to do that, your power gives us back our power!
In this sense - we see us on any festival next time...
